Potentially. LGSF or a steel–LGSF hybrid can reduce the additional dead load compared with a conventional RCC and masonry addition. The existing foundations, columns, beams, slabs, load path, wind and seismic resistance, connections, waterproofing and approvals must be assessed before any system is confirmed.

Hybrid construction intentionally combines systems so each material performs the role it suits best—for example RCC foundations, retaining walls or cores with structural steel, PEB or LGSF above. Its success depends on engineered load transfer and careful coordination of movement, fire, corrosion, waterproofing, services and tolerances at every interface.

A useful early range is possible after basic site and project inputs. A dependable quotation requires scope, drawings, specifications and site conditions to be defined so that important work is not hidden or excluded.

Climate performance comes from the complete assembly: roof and wall build-up, insulation, vapour and water control, ventilation, drainage, detailing and installation quality. Those layers are specified for the location rather than assumed from the structural system alone.

They can be engineered for earthquake resistance, but no responsible builder should promise an ‘earthquake-proof’ building. Lower structural weight can reduce seismic forces, while safe performance still depends on the site and soil, structural configuration, bracing, connections, foundations, a continuous load path, applicable standards and execution quality.

Steel is not automatically rust-proof. LGSF uses specified galvanised or coated sections, while PEB and exposed steel protection must be selected for the environment. Durable performance also depends on protected cut edges and fasteners, ventilation, drainage, waterproofing, avoiding persistent moisture traps and maintaining exposed finishes over the building’s life.

Yes. Prefabrication can standardise hidden components and repeatable details without making every building look the same. The architectural expression, plan, finishes and services can still be developed around the project brief and site.
